Nothing much to say really but thought I’d write SOMEthing.
Thanksgiving was busy last week. Both of my brothers and their families came home and stayed for several days. It is the one time of year that we are all together for so many days and it is wonderful. (yeah, I have to say sweet stuff like that now… hey Christina !!). No, really – it was one of the best visits we’ve had in a while. There was a certain stress factor that is no longer present…. Nicholas had the hardest time with Papa being gone (besides my mother who did a very good job of hiding her emotions for the most part). Personally – well, never mind. It was a good weekend.
Teaching is in a lull for the moment. This time between Thanksgiving and Christmas break is very ackward. The kids are hyped about the holidays and hard to settle down. Computer class I’m basically pushing typing with the older ones and AD-awarness for the younger ones. Music classes I am torturing 2nd-5th grade with watch The Sound of Music. And I love every minute of it. I don’t mind watching and rewatching 4 times in a day. It will likely take us the whole 3 weeks to get through the movie. We are singing Christmas carols at the Nursing Home in a couple weeks but that’s easy and fun.
The biggest excitement for me right now is the addition of 2 new jobs….
Every little bit counts, right? So I will be serving coffee/donuts at the church every other Sunday morning for 3 hours and getting paid. That will not be much but it will likely buy milk for the week (which we are up to going through a gallon+ most days……). And I have put in 9, yes NINE applications all over town trying to find a weekend job. I interviewed with Sears and a local yacht club restaurant but I guess they didn’t like me because I didn’t hear anything back. No one else has called me at all, though most big retailers now do online applications and it says it can take up to 3 weeks to process. I think the biggest turn off is that I put down that I’d only work weekends and they want part-time help to be available at their beck and call. I do have an interview tomorrow morning with QT and have high hopes. This was set up by a family friend who pretty much said that I would be hired if I could fill any of the schedule needs they have. I’m a bit nervous about selling alcohol and cigarettes and lottery tickets but I figure it can’t be THAT bad. Plus if I actually get to work at the one close to my house I think it will be fun to see lots of familiar faces. I grew up here and I know TONS of people.
That’s about it for now. Brittney has a “date” with Calebs grandparents, Sarah has piano lessons and babysitting, Nicholas is stuck doing chores and homework. Alli had a late nap today and Nick and Jake are watching spongebob. Wonder if I can sneak in a 20 minute snooze…………………
